NDNS survey reports are published regularly by government on the UK gov.uk website.   

You can also view NDNS findings through our new interactive dashboard. 

NDNS data dashboard

An interactive dashboard presents the latest results from NDNS Years 12 to 15, covering the period 2019 to 2023. 

You can explore results on: 

  • food consumption 

  • nutrient intake 

  • nutritional biomarkers 

  • physical activity 

  • survey response rates 

Results can be viewed by characteristics including age and sex.

Latest NDNS UK results report

The latest UK report presents findings from NDNS Years 12 to 15, covering 2019 to 2023. 

This report includes information about food consumption, nutrient intake and nutritional status in the UK population. 

Earlier NDNS reports are also available on the UK gov.uk website.

Future reports

The next UK report will include data from NDNS Years 16 and 17 carried out between 2024 and 2026.  Publication is expected in 2027. 

Reports for UK devolved countries

Northern Ireland 

Recruitment has been boosted in Northern Ireland during several periods of the NDNS programme to provide representative data for the Country and to allow comparisons to the UK.    The sample boost was co-funded by three partners: the FSA in Northern Ireland, the Department of Health Northern Ireland and Safefood, Republic of Ireland. 

The most recent results report for Northern Ireland covers 2017 to 2023.

Scotland

Additional recruitment in NDNS was funded by the Food Standards Agency in Scotland for Years 1 to 4 (2008 to 2012). This enabled comparisons for Scotland to be made with UK results.

Wales

Recruitment was boosted in Wales funded by Welsh Government between 2009 and 2013 to provide population-representative data for Wales.

Sodium and salt surveys

The wider NDNS programme includes a series of individual country surveys that measure sodium intake using urine samples. These surveys provide information about population salt intake and changes over time.

Methods and supporting studies

NDNS has published studies assessing and comparing the methods used to measure diet, physical activity and nutritional status.
